Peer Roundtables

Please join us for our first Peer Roundtables session.  Attendees will join in small, business peer groups based upon business structure and position within the company to participate in a roundtable discussion of topics most relevant to you!  Would you like to discuss with others hurdles you are facing within your business?  Could you benefit from experience of others with a given decision?  Come prepared with issues you would like to discuss within a business peer group and be prepared to benefit from the free flow of ideas and experiences!  Roundtables will become a regular part of our programming.

CPAFE Re-Formatting:  What's New?

A Letter From The CPAFE Board of Directors

In order to better meet the needs of our members and focus our efforts on the education and mentoring of business women in the greater Harrisburg Area, the CPAFE Board of Directors is pleased to announce a re-organization of the group and a new format for monthly meetings throughout the year. This new formatting will revolve around 3 core monthly meeting types.

For our first core, we will continue to provide educational opportunities with presentations from notable leaders, however these will now take place 4 times a year (once a quarter). Presenters will be solicited and secured from the community and present on topics related to women in business, professional growth and development, and women’s issues.

The next core component of our new formatting is our Peer Roundtable groups. Three times a year, members will meet within peer groups based upon their company structures and positions within those organizations. We will be utilizing an executive peer group format to structure these roundtables. Members will be able to discuss issues and gain insight from the experience of their peers in the group to assist in decision making. Members will initially be placed into 1 of 3 groups: Owner/Core Executive Group, Operators and Management Group, and Emerging Business Women. These will evolve as we grow this offering so that we can meet the needs and dynamics of the group.

Our third core formatting focus will consist of a mixture of book talks, a community service opportunity, and our holiday social. Twice a year, the group will select a book for a community read. 3 books will be presented to the membership for consideration each year. Recommendations can come from the board members or general membership. The final book selections will be determined by email survey response, with the top 2 books being selected. Books will be have a business/professional development focus and will be appropriate for general membership. The Book Talk will be lead by 1-2 members and these leaders will be solicited at time of survey. Individual members will be responsible for purchasing the book, however discussions will revolve around key tenants of the book and their application into our daily business lives, so reading the book is not necessarily mandatory (although strongly encouraged) in order to be involved in the discussion. In an effort to give back to our community, we will be spending 1 meeting each year focusing on a hands-on service project for a local non-profit. Special consideration will be given to any non-profit organizations connected to CPAFE members. This can be held at the location of our general meetings or at an alternate location. The committee will take into consideration that members will be heading to work immediately after and therefore activities should be those which could be performed in business attire. And finally, we will keep with our annual tradition of our Holiday Social. This is a great time to celebrate the year and focus on building our social connections within the group.

Do not fear, our ever popular Mentoring Program will be continued and built upon! We're excited about growing our mentor/mentee pairings. You may have also noticed the opportunity for a professional grant from CPAFE. The goal was to develop a grant program for members of the organization to invest in the business or professional career. Applications are being accepted now for our 2019 inaugural grant award!

We hope that you are as excited about the new formatting and focus as much as we are. If you are interested in serving on a committee or even the Board of Directors to assist with our group, please do not hesitate to reach out. Our organization is not possible without the involvement of our members!
