    Leigh Hurst
Feel Your Boobies: Partners in Education

    About the Program

The Feel Your Boobies Foundation is a non-profit breast cancer organization that promotes proactive breast health through the use of strategic education & outreach programs. Our primary program is our College Outreach Program which provides free breast health education materials to college health centers & student organizations.  Since the beginning of this program in 2012, we have worked with over 500 colleges across the country to ensure breast health education is provided to their student body.

Many young women don’t realize that breast cancer is something that can happen to them. Our education and outreach programs aim to encourage women to get to know their bodies and start this health habit at a young age so that if a change occurs it can be caught early and brought to a doctor’s attention.

In 2017, Feel Your Boobies began offering a Partners in Education program as a way to work with local businesses. Our goal is to give them a way to support our mission while also leveraging our educational resources for use in their Employee Wellness Programs. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month so there is still time to partner with us on your fall wellness programming.

    About Leigh

Leigh never meant to start the Feel Your Boobies Foundation. In fact, she never thought much about breast cancer at all. Until she was 33, and was diagnosed with it. She felt the lump in her breast in the years prior to her diagnosis, but not through traditional self-breast exams, just through the course of her daily routine. During her annual exams, the lump went undetected by doctors until she pointed it out. Even then, the doctors felt it was nothing of concern.

But after two years, as a result of the proactive nature of her nurse practitioner, she was sent to get a mammogram. It was followed by an ultrasound and biopsy which eventually confirmed the lump to be Stage 1 breast cancer. Her experience made her realize that she never paid much attention to breast cancer messages. So she made a t-shirt for her friends that said "feel your boobies" ... just for fun. But after putting up a one-page website, soon orders were coming in from across the country from people she didn't know. And the Feel Your Boobies Foundation was born.

From a personal perspective, Leigh was unmarried and had no children at the time of diagnosis, and she wondered what the future would hold. After completing five years of Tamoxifen, at age 40 and 42, she gave birth to two healthy young boys (Eli and Leo). And in April 2017, Leigh celebrated 13 years of being cancer free.

In her professional life, Leigh has spent her career focusing on behavior change and the use of media. After leaving NYC to return to her Central Pennsylvania roots in 2003, her diagnosis led her to a path of breast cancer advocacy where her media expertise has been put to good use in spreading the "feel your boobies" message to young women.

    Abeer Allen and Tania Srouji
    The Eye Candy Family

So, you have thought about being a business owner but you just can’t take the jump.  Join the Srouji Sisters as they talk about successes, failures and overcoming obstacles. Leave with tips and tools to help you take the leap to entrepreneurship.

    About the Srouji Sisters

Have you ever wondered how people end up in their career?  Some people have a plan - they go to college and find a job in their major and retire from that job.  Others may get a job in any field out of college and continue on that path till something “better” comes along.  A lucky few find their dream job by chance.

The Eye Candy Family, LLC, was one of the lucky few. Eye Candy Family was born out of determination, years of experience, and an unbreakable family bond.   Founders and owners are sisters, Tania and Abeer Srouji, whose passion for jewelry and handbags inspired them to start their own jewelry, handbag and accessories company in 2008.

    Eye Candy Accessories Came First

In 2008 Tania and Abeer recognized a market need – that every woman should be able to afford beautiful, unique jewelry without breaking the bank.  The sisters got to work creating a company that personifies fun, fabulous, and affordable accessories, and within weeks Eye Candy Accessories was born. Accessories company that caters to women, men, and children by offering fun, fabulous, and affordable jewelry, handbags, and accessories.  Since its inception in 2008, the Eye Candy business model has been to allow people to “feel like a million bucks without spending a million bucks”.
After 4 successful years, Eye Candy launched 2 more divisions to the Eye Candy Family in 2012, including Couture by Eye Candy and Events by Eye Candy.

Couture by Eye Candy carries sterling silver, high-quality jewelry from around the world, affordable bridal accessories, and unique, custom-designed and handmade bridal brooch bouquets.

Events by Eye Candy was a natural progression for the sisters, who finally put a name to their lifestyle.  Both Tania and Abeer have a strong background in Event planning – including 2 consecutive Man/Woman of the Year Campaigns for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, numerous non-profit fundraisers, corporate events, weddings, block parties, and the list goes on.  Events by Eye Candy speacilizes in corporate events and fundraisers. Events by Eye Candy are know for thier three main events: Central PA Superchef, PA Bridal Exchange, and The Conference for Women...Be Extraordinary!

How Eye Candy Accessories gives back

In the past five years the sisters have raised close to $200,000 for local non profits through events they have planned, items they have donated, and money they have raised. Eye Candy prides itself on "Paying it forward."

    Eye Candy Mission

Our mission is to inspire, motivate, and empower community members to live their lives by design not default.
