Mentoring Committee

CPAFE is the only Central PA networking and business group that offers a formal mentoring program for its members.  Mentors with a variety of different skills and industry experience provide one-on-one mentoring to other members who desire to learn and grow in their abilities in the business world. Key advice about work/life and family/life balance, time management, strategizing your career path, personal presentation, and speaking skills are among some of the many areas where protégés have elected to grow their skills.

The mentoring committee goes through a detailed and personalized matching process each year beginning in January to provide just the right match between mentor and protégé.  Throughout the year a mentor coordinator periodically checks in with the mentor/protégé pairs to answer questions and provide direction. The mentor committee also hosts the Pairs Party in March that formally introduces the mentor/protégé match as well as hosting a mentor recruitment party in September and a panel discussion at the November monthly meeting.

If you are thinking about becoming a committee member, we'd love to talk to you.  This is a fantastic and extremely rewarding committee to be on.  We like parties but we love seeing the results that come from women being mentored in the workplace.  Our busiest season is January to March when we're collecting applications, matching, and planning the Pairs Party.

The rest of the year is fairly light.  We meet once per quarter, in person, to review committee business, budget, etc.

If you are considering becoming a mentor - please contact anyone on this committee to find out more about what is involved being a mentor - OR - ask anyone with a mentor badge on their name tag at a monthly meeting.  It's very rewarding, looks great on a resume or for promotion, and takes less time that you might imagine.
