Jennifer Doyle| The Foundation for Enhancing Communities

The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC), founded in 1920, is a community foundation, incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. TFEC accepts donations from individuals, families, organizations, institutions, and through bequests and planned gifts, all of which make up its permanent and non-permanent fund portfolio. Investment returns earned from these funds are returned to the community through TFEC’s discretionary and donor-designated grantmaking programs. TFEC’s discretionary program service area is the South Central Pennsylvania counties of Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, and Perry, and the Dillsburg Area. TFEC also distributes grants to many qualified charitable organizations nationwide.

The Women’s Fund is a special initiative of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC). Its purpose is to provide grants to help women and their families lift themselves to a better standard of living and to reach their true potential. This goal is achieved through the establishment and growth of an endowed fund that is managed by TFEC. Women’s Fund Executive Committee organizes annual fund-raising events focused on reaching local women with an interest in supporting women and girls.

The Women’s Fund issues an annual request for proposals to nonprofit organizations providing services to women and girls in Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, and Perry Counties. Organizations submit proposals which are reviewed by the Grantmaking Committee, which makes a recommendation to the Executive Committee.

In addition, the Fund recognizes women who have made substantial contributions to nonprofit organizations in our service area with the “Women in Philanthropy” award.
